The purpose of this piece is to organized my thoughts when creating an E-portfolio.It is a useful tool in communicating what my plan of action was to my professor. In the future I may be able to use Proposal writing to explain ideas to future employers. One example for a need for a proposal in the field of nursing is the asking for new equipment. A proposal will be useful in explain risk versus reward, plan how the equipment would be used, and other important information.
Review:
Although I have followed my proposal closely, some aspects did not proceed as planed. Instead of using a simple template this portfolio uses an "awesome" template. The area in which each section is post is floating above a background. This effect gives each section more of a paper feeling. I also decided to use a textured background because it bring character to the portfolio with out distracting the reader. The last deviation I have made is the placement of my Interesting Resources. Instead of being on the bottom of the page, where they were lost, I placed them on the right hand side of the page.
Proposal:
Project Title: Cassandra Hodgson, Academic E-portfolio
Over view:
The
purpose of this project is to present samples of technical writing in which I
have created in the spring 2013 semester. On a Google blog platform I will show
case a cohesive project that includes; a resume and cover letter, an annotated
bibliography, and a memo. This project will also incorporate a position description
section that will highlight my technical writing abilities. Keeping in mind elements
of technical writing, such as audience and design, the portfolio will be
attractive while informative.
Introduction:
The audience of this project will
include my peers and professors. The introductions, home page and Meta text
will be created while thinking about my audience. Although this is a school project, my audience
will be expanded to my coworkers at Caring Hands. A section of the E-portfolio
will speak to the policy and procedures of our company therefore will include jargon
from my field.
Proposed Project:
This e-portfolio
will have the title at the top of the page. Directly under the title there will
be tabs that will allow the user to navigate the page easily. The first tab
will be the home page. This will be the default page in which the E-portfolio
will open up with. The tabs will then read Resume, Position description, memo,
and Proposal. There will also be another tab called final thoughts. I have
chosen a simple template because there is no need for any illustrations or art.
Home
Page: This section of the
E-portfolio will stem from my cover letter I have written earlier in the
semester. It will describe my aspirations and motives for writing an
E-portfolio. The home page introduction will all describe myself and my
accomplishments.
Resume:
my resume will follow the home page because it gives me creditably My
resume will also give any information about myself I did not include on the
home page.
Position
Description: My final project of the class will be a position description
from within my current company. I will
be revising our current policy keeping in mind audience, document design, and grammar.
The position description is an important form of technical writing because it
provides clear lines of authority.
Memo:
The memo will follow the position description because it will communicate the
changes I would like to make to the position description. It is important to
keep open lines of communication between those I work with and myself.
Proposal:
This proposal will be posted last because it does not immediately pertain to my
current career. Although it show case my technical writing ability it is not
the strongest piece of work.
Final Thoughts: this page will
contain a Meta text that will describe my future aspirations as well as the
knowledge I have gained.
Interesting
resources: this will be a section at the bottom of my E-portfolio. It stems
from the annotated bibliography I created during the semester. Since my final
project does not utilized the resources I have found I will include them in
this section.
Learning Outcomes:
By the
end of this project I will be proficient in the user of Blogger the online
platform. I will also have a portfolio I can present to future employers and academics.
